The short version

  • Small Business Saturday is Saturday, Nov. 28, the day after Black Friday.

  • In St. Pete, Shopapalooza fills Vinoy Park Nov. 28–29, and Central Avenue's districts are open for shopping.

  • In Tampa, Winter Village hosts a Shop Small Weekend, and the Ybor City Saturday Market runs as usual.

Small Business Saturday falls on Nov. 28 this year, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. American Express started it in 2010, and the U.S. Small Business Administration has co-sponsored it since 2011, according to the SBA.

Tampa Bay has more ways to shop small than one day can hold. Here's where to start in Pinellas and Hillsborough.

Where can I shop small in St. Pete?

Shopapalooza, Vinoy Park. The big one. More than 350 local makers, artists and food vendors, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, free. Our full Shopapalooza guide.

Central Avenue. St. Pete's main shopping street runs through downtown, the EDGE District and the Grand Central District, with more than 200 independently owned shops, galleries, salons and cafes along the corridor, according to a city-organized Shop Central listing. The Central Avenue trolley and SunRunner run the length of it.

Winter Wonder, Williams Park. The new holiday market in downtown's oldest park features local businesses Thursday through Sunday. It's free to walk in. Our Winter Wonder story.

Where can I shop small in Tampa?

Winter Village Shop Small Weekend, Curtis Hixon Park. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 28–29, 1–4 p.m., according to Winter Village. The Shops of Winter Village feature local businesses all season.

Ybor City Saturday Market, Centennial Park. Every Saturday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m., including Nov. 28, according to the City of Tampa.

Seminole Heights. The neighborhood's Holiday Shop Hop has run on Small Business Saturday for more than a decade, with passport stamps and prize drawings, according to past coverage by Creative Loafing Tampa Bay and WFTS. Organizers hadn't posted 2026 details as of Nov. 6. We'll update this story when they do.

Hyde Park Village. The South Tampa shopping district lights its tree Thursday, Nov. 19, 5:30–8:30 p.m., according to the City of Tampa.

Why does it matter?

Money spent at local shops tends to stay in the community, a point Tampa Bay organizers make every year. "When you shop local, the bulk of your money stays local," Shopapalooza founder Ester Venouziou told Patch.

Before you go: check each shop's holiday hours online. Many post Saturday-only deals on social media the week of Thanksgiving.
